Town of Danville maintenance department crews and Contra Costa County parks liaisons completed a series of autumn stewardship improvements at Hap Magee Ranch Park on Wednesday, refreshing the popular seventeen-acre facility on La Gonda Way ahead of the winter rainy season. Jointly operated by the Town of Danville and Contra Costa County near the Alamo border, the historic ranch property serves thousands of weekly visitors utilizing its off-leash canine enclosures, shaded picnic meadows, and heritage cottages.

During this week's scheduled maintenance window, park operations staff replenished engineered wood-fiber surfacing across both the small-dog and large-dog enclosures, cleared subsurface French drainage channels to prevent winter mud accumulation, and installed upgraded dual-height stainless-steel hydration fountains. Crews also pruned mature valley oaks along the perimeter walking loop and inspected exterior woodwork around the historic Magee House and Swain Cottage educational venues.

In coordination with the park improvements, Danville transportation engineers completed seasonal battery and solar-panel diagnostics on the rectangular rapid-flashing pedestrian beacons where the Iron Horse Regional Trail intersects Diablo Road, Linda Mesa Avenue, and Sycamore Valley Road. The high-visibility LED arrays alert approaching motorists immediately when cyclists, joggers, or families activate the trailside pushbuttons.

All sections of the Hap Magee Ranch Dog Park are now open for regular daily hours from sunrise to sunset, with routine weekly turf and surfacing maintenance continuing on Wednesday mornings between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Residents can view facility reservation calendars for the historic cottages or report trail maintenance requests through the Town of Danville portal at danville.ca.us.
