The Alamo Municipal Advisory Council held a dedicated wildfire readiness session on Tuesday evening, voting to endorse an expanded roadside vegetation management plan along Livorna Road and adjacent hill corridors connecting Alamo to Roundhill and Diablo. Coordinated with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District and Contra Costa County Public Works, the initiative establishes a mandatory 15-foot cleared buffer along both roadway shoulders to prevent overgrown dry brush from impeding two-way evacuation traffic during wildfire emergencies.

Fire protection district marshals presented detailed aerial topography mapping showing that the Livorna Road corridor serves as the primary ingress and egress route for over 2,200 Alamo households in the wildland-urban interface. Crews will deploy mechanical masticators and hand crews over the next three weeks to remove dead eucalyptus limbs, invasive French broom, and low-hanging tree branches along a 3.4-mile stretch of county right-of-way. County road department funds will cover debris chipping and scheduled curbside green-waste pickup for participating private property owners.

Alamo residents and neighborhood association delegates expressed appreciation for the coordinated action, noting that rapid evacuation corridors are vital during autumn Diablo wind conditions. Council members urged all local property owners to inspect their residential defensible space perimeters, clear pine needles from roof gutters, and register family mobile devices with the county's Community Alert Network.

Homeowners and commuters can review the Livorna Road evacuation route maps, defensible space guidelines, and scheduled roadside chipping calendars online at contracosta.ca.gov. Inquiries regarding free residential wildfire safety assessments and emergency notification enrollment can be directed to the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM at (925) 313-1201. Roadway work will be conducted with single-lane flagging controls between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM daily.
