The Alamo Municipal Advisory Council joined fire safety officials from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District on Monday to issue a joint late-autumn wildfire preparedness advisory for homeowners residing along the Mount Diablo foothills and Round Hill corridor. National Weather Service forecasters anticipate dry offshore Diablo winds developing across Northern California this week, which can rapidly elevate fire danger across hillside oak woodlands and cured grass slopes.

Fire Marshal Chris George emphasized that October and November historically represent the most dangerous wildfire months in Contra Costa County due to low ambient humidity and dense seasonal leaf litter. District inspectors urged homeowners along Stone Valley Road, Livorna Road, and Miranda Avenue to maintain mandatory 100-foot defensible space zones around all residential structures, clear pine needles from gutters and eaves, and prune tree branches to a minimum of six feet above ground level to eliminate hazardous fuel ladders.

Alamo residents can take advantage of the district's complimentary neighborhood chipper program and schedule free curbside defensible space evaluations with certified wildland inspectors. Community emergency response volunteers noted that clear street numbers and unobstructed driveway turnarounds are essential to allow structural fire engines to navigate narrow hillside roads safely during emergency responses. Homeowners are also encouraged to verify their registration in the Contra Costa Community Warning System (CWS) for real-time mobile evacuation alerts.

Property owners, equestrian facility managers, and neighborhood watch leaders can book free home evaluations, review evacuation zone maps, and access wildland defensible space guides online at firedepartment.org. Inquiries regarding local hazard abatement ordinances may be directed to the San Ramon Valley Fire Prevention Bureau Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM at (925) 838-6600. Fire crews at Alamo Station 32 will conduct neighborhood defensible space drive-by reviews throughout the week.
