DANVILLE, Calif. — Voters across Danville and the San Ramon Valley are heading to early voting centers and official ballot drop boxes on Tuesday, November 3, to decide municipal, school board, legislative, and congressional races before polls close at 8 p.m.

As detailed by Patch Danville, every registered voter received a mail-in ballot that must be deposited at a designated drop box by 8 p.m. on November 3 or postmarked on or before November 3 and received by the Contra Costa County Elections Division by November 10.

Danville Town Council: Three Candidates Compete for Two At-Large Seats

Three candidates are on the ballot for 2 at-large seats on the Danville Town Council, addressing local priorities including public safety, state housing mandates, and downtown vitality:

  1. Robert Storer: Incumbent Danville Vice Mayor seeking reelection to the Town Council.
  2. Denton Carlson: Retired San Ramon Police Department Chief making a bid for the Town Council.
  3. Pratima Sonavne: Local business owner and human resources professional running for one of the 2 at-large seats.

San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) Board of Trustees

In the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD), only 1 of the 3 trustee seats up this cycle is contested on the November 3 ballot:

  • Area 5 (Eastern & Southeastern San Ramon / Dougherty Valley): Incumbent trustee Rachel Hurd, who has served on the SRVUSD Board of Trustees since 2006 and is seeking a 5th term, faces challenger Joel Woods, a substitute teacher running in his first election, as the board navigates district budget planning and educator recruitment.
  • Area 1 & Area 4 (Unopposed): In Area 1, Amanda Butland is the sole candidate filed to replace outgoing trustee Jessie vanZee, who announced in July that he would not seek reelection. In Area 4, incumbent trustee Susanna Ordway is running unopposed.

State Assembly District 16 and U.S. House District 10

Danville voters are also deciding 2 state and federal legislative contests:

  • California State Assembly District 16: Incumbent Democrat Rebecca Bauer-Kahan of Orinda, a former environmental attorney first elected in 2018 who has emphasized AI and online safety, homeowners insurance availability, public education funding, and reproductive rights, faces Republican challenger Joe Rubay of Alamo, a local business owner, Contra Costa County Fair Board member, and former chair and vice chair of the Alamo Police Services Advisory Committee campaigning on parental rights in education, public safety, and opposing high-density suburban housing mandates.
  • U.S. House District 10: Democratic Representative Mark DeSaulnier, who has served in Congress since January 2015, is defending his seat against Moraga small-business owner Jeff Frese, who supports an 8-year congressional term limit, lower energy and housing costs, and voter identification rules.
