Special districts engineers with Contra Costa County Public Works and members of the Alamo Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) Parks and Recreation Subcommittee dedicated a 36-foot redwood picnic arbor, two resurfaced crushed-oyster-shell bocce courts, and acoustic court windscreens on Sunday morning at Livorna Park at 2701 Livorna Road (at Miranda Avenue) in Alamo. Nestled at the western foot of Mount Diablo, the four-acre neighborhood park serves hundreds of daily Alamo families, youth soccer teams, and morning racquet and bocce players.

Along the eastern oak grove beside the children's playground, carpenters replaced a weathered 1980s wooden trellis with a seismically braced heart-redwood timber arbor sheltering six accessible recycled-plastic picnic tables, including two extended-end wheelchair tables, and dual charcoal barbecue braziers over a permeable paver terrace. Immediately adjacent, court crews rebuilt the park's two 60-foot bocce alleys with laser-graded drainage rock, composite timber curbs, and a fresh topdressing of compacted San Francisco Bay oyster shell.

Around the multi-use tennis and pickleball courts on the northern side of the park, technicians installed eight-foot-high forest-green AcoustiFence sound-dampening curtains that cut paddle-impact noise toward neighboring Livorna Road homes by 10 decibels while blocking afternoon crosswinds. A new stainless-steel dual-height chilled bottle-filling fountain and pet bowl station was also plumbed beside the restroom plaza.

The $225,000 Livorna Park improvement program was financed entirely through Alamo County Service Area R-7A park dedication reserves endorsed by the Board of Supervisors. Residents can reserve the new redwood picnic arbor for community gatherings on the Alamo Parks and Recreation Official Portal.
